metacognitive development in children

Metacognition in Young ChildrenHaving two focus groups that consist of adult learners and k-5 learners can give some general insight into how metacognitive skills develop throughout our lives. The schools we attend or the careers we select, contribute to our metacognitive development over time too? Researchers are reporting that students at all levels, from elementary school through college are having challenges with planning, organizing, and measuring their cognitive processes (Teaching - Learning of Mathematics ).
